A KICK OF INSPIRATION: No monkey business here - just philosophies for success in youth soccer and in life. The MONKEYSOCCER movement was named after a girl's youth soccer team, but it is for all soccer players, coaches, supporters that want a little inspiration. Our quest is to improve the girl's game and to promote a grass roots campaign for the success of Professional Women's Soccer WPS & WPSL. (Go Breeze!)

WPS, Our Turn to Thank You on Sep 26!

As FC Gold Pride played it's last regular game for the 2010 season, I have never felt so appreciated as a fan. I've been to numerous so called fan appreciation events and this wasn't even billed as such.

In years of following Major League Baseball as a child, I've never once caught a foul ball, never once met a player or secured an autograph, never once felt half as important as a fan as I do now for FC Gold Pride.

Perhaps I feel appreciated because I've actually had the players thank me for supporting the team. Perhaps it's because they stretched out a huge banner to thank the fans for coming out. No the real reason lies in what these professional women have done to inspire my daughter.

Since attending WPS matches in it's first 2 seasons, my daughter has not only caught a game ball and met ALL of the FC Gold Pride players, but she actually got the time to ask them a few insightful questions and get a little special inspiration. Your daughter can do this too, just by going out the the games.

WPS players remain more accessible to the fans than any other pro athletes I've ever encountered and where it really counts: for it's youngest fans. Yet, I am still surprised how many people haven't even heard of WPS. I recently encountered a girl's soccer coach who had never heard of them, despite our local team FC Gold Pride having achieved the regular season title and gaining the rights to host the WPS Championship.
This game, the WPS Championship on September 26th at Cal State East Bay in Hayward, California is a very important event for the success of WPS as a league.

That is important to me, since I have a daughter and I believe she should not have to watch another group of Cal or Stanford seniors retire from soccer forever just because there is no professional outlet. I believe she should be afforded the chance to dream big just like young boys can, when they see their idols work hard to perform as pro athletes.

People around the country will be following the televised broadcast of the WPS final. Please join me in support by attending the WPS Final and helping to fill the stands. It's my goal to help the team sell out the event to show the country and to show our daughters that people do really support women's sports and that their dreams can also become reality.

WPS and FC Gold Pride, for what you've done to inspire our daughters this season, it's our turn to thank you.

Take your daughters, sisters, nieces, family and friends to see FC Gold Pride compete in the 2010 WPS championship on 9/26 @1130am!
